Dear Parents,

I hope everyone is doing well! As many of you may already know, there has been a reorganization of classes at Folstone PS, and our class is now a Grade 3 French Immersion classroom. We have welcomed four new students, bringing our total to 23 students.

Please note that our timetable has also changed. I will distribute the new timetable this week, but students will still have the old one until then. The updated timetable is also posted under Resources on the website.

Learning Updates:

  • Math: Students have been focusing on Number Sense and Numeration. They should be able to provide the standard and expanded forms of numbers, place them in a value chart (thousands, hundreds, tens, ones), represent a number using base ten blocks, and identify the value of a digit (for example, in 1988, the 9 represents hundreds).
  • French: We are emphasizing oral speaking through songs and fun games. Students should be able to sing the national anthem in French, “Bonjour mes amis, comment ça va?”, “Tête, épaules, genoux et pieds,” etc. They also continue to use affirmative sentences in the morning (e.g., “Je suis super, calme, gentille, intelligente”).
  • English: Students are learning to spell words and use them in various sentences. We are also discussing the differences between full sentences and fragments, as well as formal versus informal listening.

This week, we will also cover the school code of conduct and bullying prevention, focusing on care, healthy relationships, and safety. Additionally, we will start science and social studies.

I will communicate further about students’ grades once I complete grading. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at shivani.popatsitar@peelsb.com

Merci,

Mme
