Please find below the latest classroom updates and announcements:
Announcements
- Homework
Homework is due on Monday, April 27. - Swim to Survive
The first swim session went well. For the second session, the class has been divided into smaller groups. Students will attend with another Grade 3 class. They have been informed of their group, the classmates they will be attending with, and the scheduled time of their session. - Upcoming Grades
Students are continuing to complete in-class assessments in Français, Math, English, Social Studies, and Science. Grades will be sent home once all assessments have been evaluated. - Class Rewards
Certificates for students receiving class rewards will be sent home on Monday in your child’s homework folder. - Dictée (Spelling Test)
Students will have a dictée on May 4 (please refer to the audio link under Resources). They have practiced twice in class and will complete one additional practice prior to the test. They will also practice at home as part of next week’s homework. - Spring Concert
The Spring Concert will take place on April 30th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. See you then!
Learning Updates
Français
Students have learned a new song by Kids United. They are also working on a dictée (spelling test), which helps them practice spelling, improve their writing, and strengthen their understanding of words and sentence structure. Please refer to the audio link under Resources.
Math
Students are developing their understanding of multiplication and division through grouping, sharing, and problem-solving activities. They are using manipulatives, solving problems in class, practicing EQAO-style questions, and participating in collaborative multiplication games. Please ensure your child reviews multiplication facts from 1–8 and begins studying facts from 9–12 for next week.
Language
Students explored swim safety through reading comprehension activities, videos, and whole-class discussions. They will now begin exploring various forms of writing, including letters, emails, narratives, descriptive writing, and short informational reports.
Social Studies (en français)
Students continue to learn about early settlers (les colons), including Samuel de Champlain, Jean Cabot, and Jacques Cartier, and their contributions to early Canadian history.
Science (en français)
Students are learning about natural events such as floods (inondations) and droughts (sécheresses), and their impact on plants. Earth Day provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of caring for our environment.
