Bonjour parents,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a few important updates and announcements with you.
Announcements:
- Cahier de Notes: Students will be bringing home their cahier de notes, which includes their recent grades. The following areas were assessed:
- Math: Two areas of focus – Patterning/Algebra and Fractions/Multiplication/Division
- French: spelling test
- Health: An in-class activity focused on Healthy Eating, Imported/Exported Foods, and Foods from Different Cultures
- Social Studies: A group presentation on Les Premières Nations and Settlers (in French)
- Science: A group presentation on Plant Life, in the form of a PowerPoint
- Homework: Students received homework in French, Math, and English (Black History Month). Details can be found in students’ cahier de devoirs as well as under Resource. Please note that this is due on Tuesday, April 22nd, following the long weekend.
Learning Update:
- French: Currently, we are learning a poem on emotions and focusing on vocabulary such as colère (anger), contente (happy), triste (sad), heureux (joyful), etc. We continue to watch La Princesse Sarah, which helps engage students in listening and daily comprehension activities. During our community circle, we summarize the story in French to enhance oral proficiency.
- Social Studies (in French): Students have recently written about life 200 years ago for Les Premières Nations, exploring the challenges they may have faced while living in nature.
- Science: We are completing our unit on structure. Students are working in groups to design and build a structure that must be stable and unique. The structure should be able to hold a couple of books and remain intact even if a fan is placed in front of it.
- Math: Students are currently exploring data management, focusing on how data is represented in various formats such as charts and Venn diagrams.
- English/Science: In both English and Science, we are working on paragraph writing. Students are learning to craft strong topic sentences, provide supporting details using transition words, and conclude with a well-rounded sentence to ensure their paragraphs flow logically.
Please ask your child to share more about what they are learning in these subjects!
Merci beaucoup,
Mme
