Learning Updates:
Math:
Students are currently learning about fractions, including terms such as three-fourths, whole, half, third, denominator, and numerator. They are also exploring simple divisions with remainders. For example, dividing 13 by 4 gives a quotient of 3 with a remainder of 1. Feel free to review your child’s Math folder and notebook for more details on their progress.
Science (taught in English):
We have completed Unit 1, focusing on the growth and changes in plants. This week, students are working in pairs to create a mini PowerPoint presentation about a plant of their choice. They will practice and present their projects in front of the class. The project deadline will be shared soon. Please note that this work is to be completed in class with their group member and should not be done at home.
We have also started Unit 2, which focuses on strong and stable structures. Students are learning about what a structure is, its size, shape, and purpose, and why structures are made. They are exploring the functions of various structures and distinguishing between man-made and natural structures.
Health:
Students have started learning about healthy eating, distinguishing between processed and non-processed foods, and understanding “needs vs. wants.”
Social Studies (taught in French):
We are learning about communities in Canada, focusing on the First Nation communities and the Europeans who came. Currently, students are working on mini-Google Doc presentations where they answer three questions based on an illustration they’ve analyzed. One of these questions will be presented by the group members next Friday.
Here is the link to their Google Doc:

Please note that we kindly ask parents not to write anything on the document, as it may confuse the other students who are working on the project. Only students should update the document if necessary.
Merci,
Mme
