For the upcoming Math quiz, students should review the following concepts:

  1. Comparing Numbers
    • Key Vocabulary: greater than ( > ), less than ( < ), equal to ( = )
    • Sample Exercise: Compare the following pairs of numbers using >, <, or =:
      • 456 ___ 654
      • 789 ___ 789
      • 123 ___ 321
  2. Counting Money
    • Key Concept: Recognizing and adding coins and bills, and counting cents and dollars accurately.
    • Sample Exercise:
      • If you have a quarter (25 cents), a dime (10 cents), and a nickel (5 cents), how much money do you have in total?
      • How many 10-cent coins would you need to make $1.00?
      • Show three different ways to represent $48 using bills and coins.
  3. Building and Writing Three-Digit Numbers
    • Key Skill: Using given digits to create all possible three-digit numbers, then comparing them.
    • Sample Exercise:
      • Use the digits 3, 5, and 8 to make as many different three-digit numbers as possible. Write them in order from smallest to largest.

Practice Tips:

  • Students can use their math notebooks and duo-tangs to review similar examples we completed in class.
  • Practicing with coins at home can help reinforce money counting skills.
  • Encourage students to double-check their comparisons to ensure they understand which numbers are larger or smaller.
